LUXURY RESORT: SAHAB RESORT AND SPA, OMAN

Located on the Saiq Plateau of the Green Mountains of Oman, the four-star Sahab Resort and Spa shows a different side to the beautiful country of Oman.

Built on the canyon edge of Al Hajar the luxury resort, which opened in early 2019, offers stunning views of the Jabal Al Akhdar (Green Mountain) range and being at such a high altitude (2000mts above sea level) the temperature is considerably lower than the soaring heat of the deserts of Oman.

Adding to the relaxing charm of the resort, is the cool and calm temperatures. Guests are often quite surprised at the cooler weather, especially if they have come from the hot temperatures of Muscat and the warm sandy dunes.

Authentically Omani, the resort has been built with natural and unpolished stone which still retain impressions of fossils that date back thousands of years. Stone that feature throughout the resort has been mined from the mountains of Jabal Akhdar.

Sahab Resort and Spa is a luxury resort with many features that will appeal to a variety of luxury travellers from solo traveller to families, for those looking for luxury and for those looking for adventure.

The resort’s interior design is heavily influenced by Omani culture and features the work of local artisan designers. The luxury rooms and suites of the resort also feature all the required amenities for a relaxed stay such as individually controlled air-conditioning, luxury bedding, top-of-the-range televisions, mini-bars and stunning views of the rugged mountain outside.

As you would expect from such a unique resort, dining is an exciting affair.

The resort features an indoor restaurant, but no doubt most guests will want to be seated in the outdoor dining area. Diners will enjoy gourmet food while taking in the views of the rugged mountains surrounding the resort before being able to dine under the clear skies and stars.

Activities that can be arranged by resort staff include yoga, biking through the mountain terrain, hiking, exploring the local waterfalls, rock climbing, tours of the local villages, and picnics and campfires in the canyons.

There are also plenty of loungers around the heated pool for guests to relax on while taking in the breath-taking views of the mountains. There is also a child-friendly pool and play area for the little luxies.

Within the resort, Spa treatments from the resort’s URU spa can be enjoyed either in-room or at the Spa. The Spa menu has been designed to cure ‘exhaustion from long travel excursions … [and] are suited for deep-tissue reinvigoration’.

One thing is for certain, guests at Sahab Resort will not get bored.
