An exclusive villa hotel with only nine rooms,in a 17th century setting on a small islandin the south of France, now that's TheLuxury Travel Bible's kind of hotel. Add to this the fact that the hotel is being refurbished by Pierre Yves Rochon, who has interior- designed more prestigious hotels than we've had room service dinners (Think numerous Four Seasons and the Peninsula Shanghai) andit is looking like the south of France in May darling, for the villa's scheduled opening.
Clarisse is sitting pretty on on Île de Réin the bosom of Saint Martin de Ré, a Unesco World Heritage Site about 30km from La Rochelle. All around are 17th century fortifications, and red-roofed houses. From you suite youll be able to see the old portand the Atlantic beyond.Another reason we know this one is going to be good is because Clarisse's big sister is Hôtel de Toiraswhich was the first 5-star hotel on the Île de Ré and a member of our favourite Relais and Chateaux group. Guest at the villa will have an excuse to visit Hôtel de Toiras (should they need one) as villa residents will dine at La Table d'Olivia at the hotel.
Due to open in May/June the hotel will also have a small spa in the gardens will have a hamman and two treatment rooms (who needs more with only 9 rooms)and tea hall.
