The former owner operators of the famed gourmet retreat Thorn Park Country House, David Hay and Michael Speers, have downsized. After selling their historic 1850s stone-and-slate homestead in South Australia's Clare Valley wine region they built a smaller 'contemporary interpretation' minutes away. Fortunately for their loyal followers, the semi-retired Hay has decided to continue to offer his legendary cooking classes in their new designer B&B. Guests get to create both a formal and casual menu using fresh ingredients, with cooking styles influenced by Hay's latest travels to Europe and the Middle East. Those who don't get their hands dirty can still experience the 'theatre' of a celebrity cook's kitchen during mealtimes from the formal dining room. Adorned with antiques and artworks, the property has only two exquisitely furnished guest bedrooms to keep the gourmet experience exclusive featuring either a queen or king bed, separate en suite with underfloor heating and beautiful bushland views.
