Built in the early 20^th century during the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh, this palace might not be the most up-to-the-moment modern, but it is full of original splendour. The 17 individually decorated suites contain portraits and furniture that were selected for the royal family. Carved bronze and curtain canopied beds hulk imposingly on the floor while ceilings and walls are delicately handpainted with traditional Indian motifs. Much of the way the palace runs remains true to more distant times and this also points to much of its charm. To let Murghal fantasies fly, stick to the royal suites. The standard rooms have city views and more contemporary furniture. However, the views of lake Pichola and The Taj Lake Palace from beneath rooftop minarets will more than compensate.
