Maison Souquet Paris, France

Channel a French courtesan of the decadent Belle Époque with a stay at the just-opened Maison Souquet. Only two red lanterns and a scarlet canopy give away the hotel’s discreet location near Place Pigalle. Over December drinks with Yoni Aidan the creative and passionate founder of boutique hotel group, Maison Particulieres TLTB fell in lust with the sensuality of it all, from the wallpaper to the fabrics to the unique design of every room Maison Souquet is a temple of hedonism - just our kind of place. Stretch out on the silky beds, unlace your corsets and drink champagne in nothing but a few artfully placed frills. The building which houses the 20-room hotel really was a ‘House of Pleasure’ back in the day so wantonness just wafts out of the walls. 'The Belle Époque, was one of the most lavish and licentious eras in the history of Paris, our hotel brings that all to life again,' says Yoni Aidan. Such was Aidan’s vision for the project that even eminent hotel interior designer Jacques Garcia couldn’t resist. Garcia too fell in love with the concept; creating lush, elegant, exotic interiors that cry out for a dangerous liaison. Ahh glamour. If you are ever going to have an affair – this is THE hotel to conduct it in. We recommend one of the six ultra-decadent suites (named after the world’s greatest courtesans) for your illicit rendezvous. Tell your lover the spa and swimming pool shimmering beneath a celestial ceiling, are available for private use upon request. As for the rest - 'carried away from the city on the whimsy of the decor, the mind is free to pursue pleasure amid a fantasy setting' says the hotel blurb. We couldn’t agree more. Maison Souquet Je t’adore.
