GOURMET TRAVEL: CHRISTMAS AT Wiltons

It’s December and therefore it's officially the countdown to Christmas!

The Luxury Travel Bible was lucky enough to preview the 2019 menu for Christmas at Wiltons in London. Head Chef Daniel Kent’s delicious Christmas menu is both traditional and creative.

After enjoying champagne and canapes upon arrival my party sat down to a dinner in the private Jimmy Marks dining room.

To start the festive meal, we enjoyed a dish of Venison Carpaccio with a Quince and Hazelnut Salad.

The star of the meal was the beautifully roasted Norfolk Turkey which was presented on Wiltons’ traditional carving trolley to audible gasps in the room. It’s a showstopper when its wheeled out and revealed from under its silver domed cocoon. The bird was expertly carved in front of us and was served with all the trimmings including roast potatoes, honey truffles parsnips and Brussels sprouts. It was delicious and got us feeling very Christmassy.

For dessert a Sauternes custard with Armagnac prunes finished the meal off nicely and beautifully matched wines were served throughout to complement our Christmas meal.

Of course, it goes without saying the service was outstanding- Wiltons’ have been serving fine food since 1742 and is known for traditional and courteous hospitality and service.
