InterContinental Davos. Switzerland

Opened at the beginning of this month Intercontinental Davos is a futurist building worthy of a Bond film, One involving an alpine chase, spectacular scenery and of course, a stylish hotel.
Ski-junkies can't fail to know that the just-opened hotel is perfectly positioned at the foot of the Flüela Pass, offering magnificent views of the Grison Alps and Lake Davos. The hotels glows like a giant golden egg laid at the edge of the tiny town.  Designed by Munich-based architects Oikios, the futuristic facade is encased in around 800 gold-coloured steel sheets which shimmer in the sun.  Inside the 216 rooms and suites the design manages to combine high tech with chalet chic - and succeed.
The local environment has also been integrated into the design of the hotel's InterContinental Alpine spa with decor is based on natural rocks and herbs. The Capricorn Brasserie also keeps it local  too with a menu featuring dishes from the South Tyrol, Savoy, and Piedmont regions.
The end of last year saw some very stylish mountain openings: L'Apogée Courchevel, The Chedi in Andermatt, and the W in Verbier to name but three. This one however is... golden.
